VSO Jitolee is working in the area of Inclusive Education that focuses on improving access to quality education among vulnerable groups in the society particularly children marginalized by disability, gender, social origin, economic status and location. The programme is aimed at ensuring access to quality education, acquisition of numeracy and literacy, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to fulfil their potential and contribute to their societies
The role involves empowering communities and their organizations to claim education rights for children with special needs, through capacity strengthening of their institutions and in raising awareness on rights and special needs education policy and to empower Disabled Persons Organizations to effectively engage in mainstreaming Special Needs Education in the Education Policy and implementation framework.
Skills, qualifications and experience required
Ideally, you’ll have a degree qualification with strong knowledge and experience of advocacy strategy development. As you’ll be working with limited resources, you’ll need to be highly creative in planning advocacy campaigns and developing necessary materials. Strong monitoring and evaluation skills are also essential, as are good communication skills. Flexibility, patience and are important qualities that will help you adapt to living and working in a different culture.
