The International Volunteer Cooperation Organisations’ conference (IVCO 2016) will take place in Bonn, Germany from October 9th to 12th, 2016.
France Volontaires is member of FORUM. This year’s event is hosted by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and the International Forum for Volunteering in Development (Forum).
Since IVCO 2015, the international community has agreed to strengthen resilience by better managing disaster risks and mitigating the impact of climate change. These challenges can only be adequately addressed through the collaboration of national governments, civil society, people affected by crises, the private sector, national and international organisations as was recently pointed out at the World Humanitarian Summit.
The international volunteering sector has an important role to play in strengthening the resilience of communities. Ensuring that people have the capacity to better absorb, anticipate, and adapt to shocks and stresses helps protect development gains and ensures the sustainability of their surroundings. That is why IVCO 2016 will focus on the theme Increasing Resilience of Communities Through Volunteering.
IVCO 2016 provides a unique forum for participants, in particular heads of agencies and senior management, to discuss this topic in-depth and leverage innovative solutions that can be applied to their organisations and their development practice. We therefore kindly ask you to save the date for this event – the official invitation with access to the online registration will follow in about two weeks.
The Call for Proposals is now open for the leads and speakers from interested organisations who would like to share their efforts and perspectives on volunteering for development during interactive dialogue sessions.
If you are keen to contribute to the contents of the conference, please fill in the form under the Call for Proposals and submit it by e-mail at [email@example.com->mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org] by July 26th, 2016.
